Came back from NYC on Saturday. It was a rough trip for me in a physical sense (since recovering from surgery I haven’t been very physically active, and we had to walk everywhere ever), but I had a good time. Bought a lot of makeup at better prices than you’ll find here (even the NY MAC employees thought it was stupid that MAC is made in Canada but US prices are cheaper!), so I got a nice Sephora foundation brush, replaced my MUFE foundation in advance for $11 cheaper than usual, and got Clinique toner, three Illamasqua cream eyeshadows (AAAAH WHY DON’T WE HAVE THIS BRAND HERE), three MAC eyeshadows and a new palette to hold them all, plus a Sephora birthday freebie from Fresh with a lip balm/tinted lip balm duo.

You Americans are lucky with your Sephoras… goddamn. There are so many in NYC and the Times Square one is huge. There’s even a huge MUFE section in SoHo with its own specific makeup artists and a shitload of artists’ products they don’t sell normally.

I also bought chrome spray paint across the street from FIT (for cosplay armour)… and a stuffed buffalo from a wild west themed store in SoHo. IT’S SO CUTE LKJFSLKJ I saw him in the window and had to take him home ;_;

Employee: “A wise purchase. Cheaper than the one on the wall.” (there was a giant real buffalo head mounted across the store)
Me: “Oh, how much is that one?”
Employee: “$5000.”
Me: “errrr yeah I can’t take that one home lol”

Also obligatory NEW YORKERS TALK FUNNY HURRRR. We kept practicing our “EY, I’M WAUKIN’ HEAH” shouts. A lot of them muscle their way through crowds instead of like… finding their way around. If you’re in Toronto and bump into someone, typically BOTH of you end up apologizing. Also, one-way streets everywhere wtf.

Uniqlo has Naruto and Hello Kitty on its shopping bags.

I went to a bunch of art galleries. MoMA had a lot of good shit. Starry Night is pretty small in person.

Lots of foreign tourists. I heard a lot of French and German. Yay Germans <3

NY Tim Horton’s are fucking weird. They’re connected to KFCs and Pizza Huts. THAT SHIT IS BLASPHEMY. Still got a coffee there for posterity though.

Some guy was preaching loudly for an entire subway trip at one point. It was pretty obnoxious. Not used to religious fanatics on our subways. Nice mosaics in NY subway stations though. The subway pass machines wouldn’t let me use Visa without putting in a ZIP code, when I don’t have one… so I put in 90210 and it let me go LOL

That’s all I can think of right now.
